A seed is a powerful Biblical symbol of something that is wisely planted. It is nurtured through watering and feeding. It is protected as the young growth starts to develop into a mature plant and brings forth fruitfulness. This is the image of each of our lives under the loving hand of Jesus, the great gardener. Matthew 13 speaks of the parable of the sower, “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
