Description
This book explains many forms of alternative therapies. It covers what they are and provides clear guidelines on how spiritually safe or unsafe they might be.
The authors point to the early history and principles of alternative healing methods. This helps the reader to understand the spiritual origins of new age healing practices. Many of these practices, including reflexology, yoga and acupuncture, to name just a few, have seen a rise in popularity even amongst some Christians. But are these healing practices spiritually safe and what are the consequences?
This book highlights the dangers of alternative healing methods. It also provides positive steps you can take towards true wholeness and well- being in our lives. The teaching in this book will help those who have been involved in alternative therapies themselves and want to free from the effects.
This book is part of Sovereign World’s ‘Truth & Freedom’ series based on the renowned teaching program from Ellel Ministries International.

This book clearly spells out the dangers associated with ‘alternative medicine’ without being overbearing or ‘superspiritual’ in any way. An important book to read for believers as the issues addressed are currently all around us. It will help you understand how to stay safe in today’s world without becoming fearful of anything. The clear style helped me absorb the material and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to every Christian in today’s world!

I really enjoyed what I learnt from reading this book. I’ve been fasting for over 30 years, on and off, and I still benefited from reading this book. The biggest benefit, for me, was that, fianally I can stop being religious about my fast. I didn’t realise how religious I was until reading this book! I think I’ve got a degree, maybe a PHd in Religiousity! Last year I read Jentezen Franklin’s book on fasting, and I was so motivated that I immediately did a ‘Daniel’ 21 day fast. That prompted me to want to another 21 day Daniel fast 1st January 2020. So, along comes 01/01/2020 and I start my fast (having asked Holy Spirit to help me, because, truth be known, I hate fasting)! I got this book last week, and it has been a God send on how NOT TO fast religiously. But, how to fast to die and experience greater intimacy with Jesus. I’m on a 40 day fast, which started out as a 21 day fast because of this book! How you fast is between you and Jesus. There is NO condemnation in it. God knows your heart. I would encourage everyone to attempt a one day water only fast, ask HS for help, and take it from there. Oh, and read this book!

I have always known it was a biblical principle to fast and not if but when yet had never quite got there so to speak! Have read other books on fasting but none have inspired me as this one to fast and pray! Written in plain English, I found I devoured the book just could not put it down and am ready for a second read and put the biblical principle into action.

Information we shouldn’t neglect to consider when it comes to choosing the people we allow to speak into our lives, our families lives and decisions regarding our health.

The main gist of this book is to ask if there may be unseen side effects with some alternative remedies. While we are avoiding chemical intrusion into the body, could we be allowing spiritual intrusion instead, which stores up spiritual bondage for us in the future? They argue that this is indeed the case and give many stories that will certainly open your eyes to new possibilities if you are a Christian! The book is well researched and balanced, with comparison between the Bible and the fundamentals of many specific complementary therapies/remedies. They believe that a Christian takes themself outside of God’s protection when they do things like this and their bottom line is that the practice of some of these therapies can give a foothold for non-Christian spiritual powers to influence the person’s life in an unhelpful way. It also has a chapter that goes step by step through what you can do about it (for yourself or someone else), with some example prayers.Sections include: Is there a life force? Where does the power to heal come from? Who is the founder (this is answered for a number of therapies, and often the founder was heavily into the occult). What if the practitioner is Christian? The difference between a therapist and a medium. Healing the body or the spirit.
I like the style which is quiet and respectful, yet pulls quite a punch. There is a useful checklist of questions to ask about a therapy, remedy or exercise regime, to see whether it may have adverse spiritual side effects.A very valuable book.

This book has completely changed my perspective of fasting. Mark clearly lays out the Biblical emphasis for fasting and the testimonies given in the book will make you want to jump on board immediately. Our youth leaders have recently read the book and are now dedicating Mondays to prayer and fasting for our church and youth ministry department. This is a must read for everyone!

This book is so good. It gives warnings on the dangers of New Age deceptions and holistic therapies. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to arm themselves with knowledge. It clearly spells out the dangers without being over bearing. There is a section on prayers you can make to be released and set free from their influence. Highly recommended.
